Dr: So you have a problem sleeping on the left side when trying to switch positions? That’s because of the overload in your heart
Me: Mmm. You’re 💯 correct! Makes sense why I always feel this intense pressure inside and next to the heart, alongside the trachea.
Then what about the thick streaks or frothy dark red, sometimes maroon or brownish blood mixed fluid.. I can see that my lungs try hard to expel it by producing a violent cough. As if to say: “Heyy, you don’t belong here. Get out!”
*laughs*
Sometimes it first slides upwards and then a cough emits automatically once it reaches ny throat.
How do you make sense of that? Moreso considering the changes of color and consistency..
Dr: Ok see, its caused by inadequate output. When your heart cannot pump out the full amount of blood, only a certain percentage goes out to the body and the remainder gets left behind in the ventricle (chamber)..
While on the other side, blood enters into the thickened ventricle that also doesn’t have sufficient space to fill and hold all it should..
Take this room for example. If I make the walls thicker, there’ll be less space inside to put things. Similarly, your Electrocardiograms have shown enlargement – heart wall muscle thickening. Your Echocardiogram percentage result which the cardiologist dismissed, clearly indicated enlargement (hypertrophy)

So that’s when this entire overload happens. The remaining blood that wasn’t pumped out to the body in the left side, pushes and infiltrates through the capillaries (tissues).. In other words, it sort of “bleeds” through the alveolar and then collects / retains in therein – the lungs. Actually better if its coughed out.
Regarding the color there’s 2 explanations:
1) Fresh – bright red means its coming from the upper lung area. The darker color means it’s more old “stale” – Collected and sitting for a while in the bottom / base of the lungs.
Either way its not good and maroon is also very concerning.
2) Some Dr’s analyze color based on the amount of hemoglobin.. So the less hemoglobin – the darker it’ll be. The more hemoglobin – the brighter.
Me: Ohhh! No wonder whenever I exert a lot – if I go out somewhere, shower, talk or walk extra.. The bloodish fluid is more. All this clogged feeling and heaviness inside the lung cavities, are because of this retention. Makes 💯 sense based on the symptoms I feel.
Dr: Then I see you also have a bit of Scoliosis here..
Me (looking at her a little confused): Whats that?
Dr: Scoliosis is a spinal curvature – meaning your spine is “twisted” and tilted or slanted towards the left side.. In some it appears due to birth defects and in others because of neuromuscular conditions. But since you don’t have any of that and it didn’t begin from puberty or anything else..
There are cases where the left angle slant happens to people who’s heart is under strain or pressure and enlarged.. The spine starts to pull that way as illustrated below, because the heart needs extra space to build more muscle mass and expand in an attempt to try and keep up with its workload.
So I cant overdo an adjustment on the spine.. We’ll do a little adjustment once a week instead of twice and break the space longer afterwards.. This adjustment is to keep the spine moving so it knows that it should not get completely stuck and sticky in one set curved position.
If I have to bring it completely back to the center… The enlarged side of the heart wont have the space it requires to extend its width and it’ll become compressed. That will make matters a lot worse for pumping and breathing. The best is to keep it easy on the heart by allowing it the extra space it needs to function.

While on the topic of heart sizes and enlargement, a cardiologist once made mention of an interesting note:
Based on my first chest x-ray and the changes thereafter, he explained there are different body types. Each person’s heart size is shaped in accordance to the bodily type.
A parable is drawn to that of a triangle 🔺
Number 1 on the top point.
Number 2 & 3 on either bottom points.
Then there are people who are a mixture of all 3 & fit in the middle of the triangle.
1) Ectomorph – People who are tall, thin & intelligent.. Focus is on the brain, skin & nervous system – “Very sharp in the brain” as dr stated lol. Heart size is longer & narrower.
2) Endomorph – People who are shorter, rounder, weightier in size, jovial by nature. Focus is the bowel & gut. Heart size is shorter.
3) Mesomorph – Muscular people whos focus is on gyming. “Not very brainy”. Heart size is rounder.
WOAH! I finally exclaim to Dr before the discussion and explanations continue..
Im gripped in astonishment! These are 100% logical explanations. You’ve understood and fitted the puzzle so easily for me.. Why and how couldn’t the others???? For almost 3 years we’ve been fighting an unending, frustrating and tiresome battle trying to find someone who can analyze the picture and connect these missing pieces correctly…
